Eduardo Galeote graduated as a Construction Engineer in 2012 and finished his Master’s in Structural and Construction Engineering in 2014 at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He conducted his PhD in Civil Engineering at UPC under the supervision of Dr. Albert de la Fuente and Dr. Ana Blanco on the area of design and optimisation of fibre-reinforced concrete, focusing on both the experimental and the numerical study of this material. Part of his thesis was conducted at Loughborough University (United Kingdom) during a research stay of six months. He graduated as doctor cum laude in 2018. 

At UPC he is a post-doctoral researcher, developing his main work on the area of 3D-printing with cementitious materials, this involving material design and its characterization. In this area, he has worked with companies conducting studies on the design of cementitious materials for 3D printing systems such as powder bed and contour crafting. He has also worked in research funded projects for developing and characterize materials for 3D printing through manufacturing and testing structural elements. Additionally, he works on the design and development of testing methods, special concretes (self-compacting concrete, high-performance concrete, fibre-reinforced concrete) as well as structural applications and quality control of materials.

Eduardo Galeote also works as associate lecturer in UPC on the area of Construction Management. He has also participated in additional teaching areas such as reinforced and prestressed reinforced concrete, as well as in concrete technology and advanced materials for construction. He has also been supervisor of several Master and Bachelor Thesis.

Dr. Albert de la Fuente Antequera, is an Associate professor of Concrete structures. His research interests are focused on the field of optimization of concrete structures, fiber reinforced concrete design and material characterization new techniques. He is also developing research in aspects related to multi-criteria decision-making systems for sustainability assessment.

During his XX-year research career, He has published 120 scientific papers, 70 international Q1 JCR-indexed journal papers, 2 book chapters and 4 books, and 75 conference papers on the topics of FRC, concrete structural design and optimisation and sustainability analysis using multi-criteria decision making methods. He has successfully supervised 8 PhD (with more than 16 on-going) and more than 130 MSc and BSc theses.

Prof. de la Fuente is an active member of fib (Fédération Internationale du Béton) where he is the member of several Task Groups and Committees on topics such as FRC tunnels and pavements, sustainability of precast structures and precast concrete bridges. He has been an active consultant in the UPC spin-off enterprise Smart Engineering Ltd collaborating with large construction companies (such as ACCIONA, DRAGADOS, SACYR and FERROVIAL). He is the Coordinator of several research projects funded by the Spanish government and the EU with a combined grant value of more than one million EUR. He is co-founder of Smart Engineering Ltd.
